Below Ground Operators
Above Ground Operator
Articulated Arm Operator
Underground automation systems consists of an operator set inside a foundation box which is below ground level, so it is invisible, except for the covering plate. The appearance of the gates opening as if by magic is one of the main attractions of the system.
Underground gate automation systems are more involved to install than above ground automation systems and the underground foundation boxes must be able to be sited on a level with each other.
Sliding Gate Operator

Above ground automation systems consists of a ram operator fixed to the inside of the gate. There are several different styles of operator depending upon the size of the gates and posts. Above Ground operators are suitable for wooden, metal, driveway and pedestrian gates.
There is greater flexibility with the installation requirements for above ground operators and most systems have built in stops so there is no need for unsightly gate stops.
Articulated arm systems are above ground systems that give maximum flexibility on installation and are particularly suitable for wide gate pillars or where the site does not allow a conventional ram operator to be installed.
The articulated arm is very slim and almost invisible from the road, making this a popular choice of system. The articulated arm requires space to move into as the gate opens so this kind of system is not suitable for gates where an obstacle might obstruct the travel of the articulated arm.
Sliding Gate Automation systems consists of a gear operator housed in a control unit that drives the gate by means of a toothed rack which is fixed to the back of the gate. Sliding gates slide on a track which must be set into a level concrete surface.
Sliding gate operators can only be installed on a gate with a solid base to which a toothed rack can be fitted and so are not suitable for wooden farm gates. There needs to be sufficient space for the gate to slide into in its opening position.
